Kristine L. Dicke

Rochester, Minnesota

My long-standing interest in the law, coupled with my belief that Christian attorneys can make a meaningful difference, fueled my pursuit of a career in law. Chief Justice Warren Burger’s quote, “Lawyers can be healers” was inscribed with prominence both at our law school and in my heart.

At Winona State University I majored in Business Administration and minored in Public Address/Communications. I interned at the Winona County Attorney’s office, which provided my first opportunity to work with family law issues. I then moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma to pursue my law degree at the O.W. Coburn School of Law at Oral Roberts University (now Regent University). My interest in family law grew and I felt blessed to be living my dream of studying law.

As a native of Southern Minnesota, I returned to join Ryan & Grinde, Ltd. at its inception. I was naturally drawn to family law and bankruptcy law. Early in the practice I saw the need for non-judicial processes to help parties reach agreements in their personal family law cases. Various processes have developed over the years, including mediation, early neutral evaluations, moderated settlement conferences, and I have trained to participate in and facilitate those processes. My experience includes litigation (i.e., contested motions and trials), appellate advocacy, and alternative dispute resolution (ADR).

Ryan & Grinde, Ltd. is a special place to practice family law, bankruptcy law, and provide ADR services. The people make the organization and this firm has a unique history of longevity of attorneys and staff. Those strong internal relationships create a team environment where every member is appreciated. We value every client, knowing that many times, it is that client’s first encounter with an attorney and the legal system. Our clients have our commitment of honesty and hard work. Each person is treated with respect and courtesy.

As attorneys, we must not only exhibit excellence in the practice of law, but must also have compassion for those we serve, particularly in family law, bankruptcy law, and in providing ADR services. A family or financial problem is one of the most personal and painful; to be entrusted with another’s most important issues is truly an honor. As a family law and bankruptcy law attorney, I can give a voice to those who cannot speak and provide options for an individual with overwhelming financial stress. As an ADR provider, I can help parents reach agreements to benefit children. I am grateful for the continued opportunities to make a meaningful difference.

I enjoy quiet home time with family, which includes three dogs, and not so quiet time cheering on our Southwest Minnesota State Mustang football team. I like criminal /legal dramas and comedy in print and on screen. I enjoy sharing the gift of laughter, as it often is the best medicine.
