Investigation underway in fatal car crash in Minnesota

The negligence of another on the road can often lead to devastating consequences, resulting in either severe injuries or even fatal wounds to another individual. Everyone on the road has a responsibility to drive carefully, but some people take that responsibility very casually. The accident victim or his or her loved ones may be able to hold such drivers accountable for their actions in a wrongful death or personal injury lawsuit.

An investigation is underway into the cause of a fatal car accident that left a 79-year-old pedestrian dead in Minnesota recently. He was crossing a busy street in the early morning hours when he was struck by a vehicle being driven by a 39-year-old man. The victim was taken to the hospital to receive medical attention for his injuries, but he later succumbed to them.

An off-duty officer came across the scene of the accident right after it happened. According to police officers, speed or alcohol does not seem to have played a factor in the accident. The driver's vehicle was taken to police storage for further examination, but the driver was released while the investigation goes on.

Minnesota residents may not be aware that a civil suit can be independent of a criminal one. Holding someone accountable for his or her negligent actions may be one way family members can get closure after an accident. An experienced attorney can help family members in their pursuit for justice-they can get independent investigators to recreate an accident, determine fault and allow the family the breathing space to come to terms with their loss. The compensation received through a successful suit may assist the family in financial burdens that accompany an unexpected accident.
