I grew up in Rochester and attended Winona State University, where I studied Accounting and Business Administration. I attended law school at the University of Louisville in Kentucky, while my husband was stationed at Fort Knox. During law school, I interned at General Electric - Appliances Division doing labor and employment law and government regulations.
Upon graduation, we moved back to Minnesota. I clerked for two judges in southwestern Minnesota. The experience gave me a background in all areas of the law - family, criminal, civil and business. It also allowed me to see the inner workings of the court system and the litigation process.
I then practiced at a general practice firm in Blaine, Minnesota. I practiced mostly business and employment law as well as personal injury. In an effort to be closer to family, we moved back to Rochester where I took a teaching position at Century High School. I very much enjoyed teaching business classes and interacting with the youth of Rochester. However, my true profession called me back. There is nothing comparable to practicing law and helping clients solve problems.
My husband, Mark, and I have two daughters. I spend my free time with my family. I also enjoy reading, hiking, camping and bicycling.
